Clear Creek Unit of Nachusa Grasslands

In 1994 the PPSOC began stewarding an 80 acre parcel of Nachusa Grasslands, owned by the Nature Conservancy.  With a mix of recovering remnant prairie and cropland destined to be restored to prairie, the Clear Creek Unit presents an especially challenging stewardship effort.

This 2,500-acre prairie preserve was formed out of high grade prairie insterspersed with restorable areas. The Nature Conservancy also has an additional 500 acres under conservation easement.
